More about Turumeke Harrington, the winner of the Shoes Extravaganza shoe design competition for 2016…
Kati Mamoe + Ngāi Tahu
Kia ora, I’m a young product designer based in Ōhinehou Lyttelton.
I design things for everyday use, practical and playful.
I explore themes of identity – living as both Pākehā and Māori – sexuality, material contrasts and play.
I finished my design degree when I was 19.
I like to think I have improved since then.
Always making and thinking.
Bachelor Design Innovation – Industrial maj. 2011 Victoria University of Wellington
Cert. IV Custom Footwear Design – 2013 RMIT, Melbourne
I’m currently working on several solo shows, a trans-Tasman urban design collection and developing my own product range.
Tui tells me she recently won the Winston Churchill Hawkes Bay Design Trust Fellowship to travel to Italy to attend Salone del mobile/design fair in Milan, and the European Design Academy Conference, to meet with local designers.
Available for collaborations, commissions, product development and design, experience and concept design, e commerce development, logo/web/branding design and UX development.
Congratulations Turumeke! Can’t wait to see what you produce for next years show!
